Objectives

Brief Description:

Placement Cell of Dr. D.Y. Patil B-School, Pune in its bid to initiate value-added activities in the institute. We launched a conclave activity under the leadership of Dr. Sheetal Darekar along with the other teammates of Placement Cell. The main aim of the conclave was to familiarize the PGDM students to develop a flair for awareness regarding the Pharmaceutical Industry.
The speaker finally made the students understand the importance of the Pharmaceutical Industry.


Finance Conclave 2021

Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School organized the Finance Conclave 2018 on 26th June 2021, in online mode. The conclave was held to discuss and understand the career opportunities in the finance sector, especially in view of the changes over the past few decades and its ever increasing importance in the corporate world. This conclave focused on leveraging growth opportunities through knowledge and network sharing initiatives, and highlighted the importance and scope of careers in financial management.

Anita Ayyadurai, the Vice President, BNP Paribas, was the chief guest at the event. Among those who addressed conclave were Abhijeet Singh, COO, Yun ESG Pte. Ltd., Johney Maheshwari, Associate Vice President (Investment Banking), Ernst and Young India, Gaurav Dewan, Associate (Treasury Risk), J. P. Morgan, and Mohit Soni, Manager (Management Consulting), PWC. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Amol Gawande, Director, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School.

The speakers highlighted how the pandemic had triggered the financial crisis, how remedies are being implemented and the role of the management consulting for financial growth, and also threw light on some new hiring techniques in the sector. They also spoke came due the pandemic situation.

A question and answer session was conducted at the end of the session. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Sheetal Darekar, Head (Corporate Relations), Dr. D. Y. Patil B School. The conclave had over 341 management participants, among which 218 were from the 2021-23 batch and 123 were from the 2020-22 batch of the institute.


HR Meet 2021

Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School organized the HR Meet 2021, a seminar on ‘Hiring Management Graduates: Industry Expectations and Commitment to Become the Ideal Match,’ on 10th July 2021, through online mode. The conclave was held to discuss and understand the challenges as well as opportunities that the human resources management sector is facing in light of the changes over the last few decades. Human resources management has changed from mere processing of payroll, arranging company outings and sending birthday greetings to recruiting, training, evolving compensation policies and developing retention initiatives, thus evolving from an administrative role to that of a strategic role crucial for the success of an organization.

Khalid Raza, the Associate Director – HR, Ernst and Young India, was the chief guest at the event. Among those who addressed the conclave were Manjiri Patel-Shinde, General Manager, Global HR and Operations, Cloud Moyo Pvt. Ltd. (Microsoft Partner), Anurag Sahay, HR Head, Nestle India (Goa Unit), and Ravi Mishra, Global HR Head (Advanced Material Business) Aditya Birla Group. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Amol Gawande, Director, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School.

The speakers highlighted various aspects of human resource management, including the importance of experiential learning, the role of mentors in overall academic development, domain knowledge, technical skills and attitude to improve employability, and skills that add value across the chain including in the regulatory, quality and compliance areas.

A question and answer session was conducted at the end of the session. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Sheetal Darekar, Head (Corporate Relations), Dr. D. Y. Patil B School. The conclave had over 341 management participants, among which 228 were from the 2021-23 batch and 113 were from the 2020-22 batch of the institute.


Pharma Conclave 2020

An International Conference on “Careers in Pharma – Exploring & Preparing”

Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School organized the Pharma Conclave 2020 on 15th February 2020, through an international conference on ‘Careers in Pharma – Exploring and Preparing.’ The conclave was held to discuss the new marketing concepts that have evolved over the last few years, the emergence of digital media, the impact of digital media, the need to reach tap new markets and the use of digital tools for penetration of the market. India is amongst the most favorable destination for the pharmaceuticals manufacturing, accounting for about 2.4 per cent of the global production in value terms and 10 per cent in volume terms. This has made pharmaceuticals an important career avenue for students, especially management students.

Rajesh Nair, Senior Vice President, EMCURE, was the chief guest at the event. Among those who addressed the conclave were Dr. Mahesh Burande, President, Indian Pharmaceutical Congress 2017, and Director of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Rahul Deshpande, Assistant Manager – Quality Assurance, Serum Institute of India, Hemant Kad, Senior Manager – Supply Chain Management and Warehouse, Bilcare Ltd. (Global Clinical Supplies), and Kiran Deshmukh, Functional Safety Manager. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Amol Gawande, Director, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School.

The speakers highlighted various aspects of the pharmaceuticals industry. They spoke about recent changes in the industry and the changes in the regulatory requirements across the world. They pointed out that pharmaceutical companies were in expansion mode and hence the demand for technically skilled and knowledgeable manpower had increased. They discussed the digital transformation in the industry, right from manufacture to dispensing, and the drastic changes in the business models and global manufacturing operations. They highlighted the need for skilled professionals who could add value across the entire chain, including regulatory, quality and compliance areas.

Finance Conclave 2018

Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School organized the Finance Conclave 2018, a national level seminar on ‘Opportunities and Challenges in Indian Capital Market,’ on 6th October 2018. The conclave was held to discuss and understand the challenges as well as opportunities that the Indian capital markets are facing in light of the series of comprehensive reform measures introduced by the government in the sector. While the reforms created opportunities, there are also challenges like inflation, GDP, index of industrial production, rising population, and so on. The conclave focused on leveraging growth opportunities through knowledge and network sharing initiatives with the stakeholders. The event itself was preceded by a week-long simulation game of ‘Mock Share Trading’ in the form of a competition designed by the Dalal Street Investment Journal.

Dr. Mohan Khedkar, former vice chancellor of Amravati University, was the chief guest at the event. Among those who addressed the conclave were Kiran Jadhav, Chairman and MD of Kiran Jadhav and Associates, Anil Jalihal, CFO, Indo Schottle Autoparts Pvt. Ltd., Anjan Gupta, Vice President, Morgan Stanley, Saket Jain, Product Head – Mortgage, Share Khan BNP, Yogesh Supekar, Senior Editor, Dalal Street Investment Journal, and Anand Bapat, CEO, Dampf Kolben Engineering Corporation. The speakers highlighted various aspects of the capital markets and the finance sector, including causes of a financial crisis and the remedies, and the use of technology in the financial markets.

A question and answer session was conducted at the end of the session. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Sheetal Darekar, Head (Corporate Relations), Dr. D. Y. Patil B School. The conclave had over 160 management participants, among which 120 were from the 2018-20 batch and 40 were from the 2017-19 batch of the institute.


Marketing Conclave 2018

Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School organized the Marketing Conclave 2018 on 8th September 2018, through a conference on ‘New Age Matrix for Marketing’. The conclave was held to discuss the new marketing concepts that have evolved over the last few years, the emergence of digital media, the impact of digital media, the need to reach tap new markets and the use of digital tools for penetration of the market. The conclave, which had discussions, keynotes and chat sessions, began with a campus tour and various competitions like quiz, mad ad, debate and poster presentation.

Top professionals from the fields of marketing, advertising and media participated in the conclave. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Amol Gawande, Director, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School. Speakers at the conference highlighted the need to curb fake news and spread of misinformation through digital platforms, and the necessity of legislation and media literacy to check fake news. They pointed out that digital advertising was growing and had become part of an effective communication plan. They asserted that messaging and communication had never been more important, content had never been less monetized and the reason to look beyond the shares of customers wallets had never been more crucial. While organizations were operating in a VUCA world (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous), the definitions of customer delight, satisfaction, happiness and loyalty are constantly changing. The speakers underlined that the digital marketing landscape in India was on the upsurge – from Rs 61,878 crore in 2018 to a market size of Rs 85,250 crore in 2021.
