Program Overview

The Fellow Program in Management (FPM) is the doctoral program offered by Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, Tathawade, Pune (DYPBS), and is approved by AICTE. This program is available in both full-time and part-time formats and is designed to provide a comprehensive research environment for academicians and researchers to deepen their knowledge. The program structure aims to equip candidates with the skills necessary to excel in academic, research, and consultancy endeavors. Admission Eligibility

The applicant seeking admission to the FPM at Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School needs to fulfill the following Eligibility Criteria:

  • Academic qualifications: To be considered for admission to the FPM at Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, the applicant must possess the following qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and
    • Master’s degree in business administration / PGDM / C.A. / CS / ICWA / M.Com with First Class or equivalent.
    • Those in the final year of their post-graduation may also apply. Such students, if selected, will be provisionally admitted provided they complete all requirements for obtaining their master’s degree before 30th October of the year of admission. The admission of these candidates will remain provisional until they produce the mark sheet proving that they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The students must submit the final year mark sheet by 31st December.
  • Universities & Affiliations: The above-mentioned qualifications will be considered valid for admission only if:
    • The obtained qualification is from any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India, or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE.
    • In case the candidate has a PGDM degree from an Indian Institution, the degree must be recognized as equivalent to MBA by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) or approved by AICTE.
    • The degrees of candidates from foreign universities must be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Additional Criteria for selection for part-time students: The candidate should have completed a minimum of five years of full-time relevant work experience as an academician or a corporate executive.
  • SC, ST, OBC, PWD (Person with disability), EWS (Economically weaker section), Female Candidates and those from rural and semi-urban backgrounds are encouraged to apply for the FPM program.

Admission Procedure

Admission to the Fellowship Program shall be made once a year, during July-December. The advertisement for the same will be published accordingly. The application form will be made available with the Institution.

  • Admission form & indication of research interest: The applicant needs to complete the FPM application form. The form must be accompanied by an abstract of 5000 words about the proposed research area/topic or the tentative research proposal. This may be broad-based and is critical for gauging the applicant’s interest.
  • Admission test: The candidate must clear up any of the following tests:
    • Common Admission Test (CAT) held by the IIMs/ GMAT/GRE/XAT/NET/GATE/NMAT score; he/she would also be eligible.
    • Please note: the CAT/XAT/GMAT/GRE/NET/GATE/NMAT exam must have been taken within the previous two years.
    • Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School Research Aptitude Test: In the event the applicant has not appeared for any of the above exams, the institute also considers candidates who appear for the Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School Research Aptitude Test.
    • NRIs and foreign candidates are also required to have a valid CAT/GMAT/GRE/XAT/NET/GATE/NMAT score or appear for the Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School Research Aptitude Test.
  • Necessary documents and attested copies of the required certificates and testimonials should be attached to the application.
  • Applications will be subject to a merit-based short-listing by Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School.
  • The selection for the Fellow Program will be made based on the following criteria:
    • Academic qualification and work experience (only for part-time)
    • Scores obtained in CAT/GMAT/GRE/XAT/NET/GATE/NMAT or the Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School Research Aptitude Test
    • Research proposal and its presentation before the Selection Committee
    • Personal interview
  • Shortlisted candidates shall be contacted for a personal interview for final selection. The decision of the Institute Selection Committee regarding admission shall be final.

  • Application Fee of ₹ 2000 /- shall be paid by the candidate at the time of application. The registration shall be effective from the date of registration along with the receipt of registration fee paid.
  • Refund of Tuition Fee:
    • 75% of the tuition fee shall be refunded if a student withdraws within the first week after registration. The application / registration fee will not be refunded.
    • No refund/adjustment of fee shall be made for withdrawal request submitted on or beyond the second week of registration.

Financial Support

  • FPM Full-time [FT] students: The candidates are awarded the following financial support:
    • Stipend: Eligible candidates will be awarded a stipend of INR 50,000/- per month in the first year, INR 55,000/- per month in the second year and INR 60,000/- per month in the third year.

  • FPM scholars are required to complete 12 credits in the first module, which includes four courses. In the second module, they must undertake three stream-specific courses for 9 credits, along with a 3-credit seminar on general management topics. In the third module, the candidate is expected to present a 3-credit seminar and write a review paper on the literature related to their research topic for publication, also worth 3 credits. In total, scholars must earn 12 credits in both the first and second modules, and 6 credits in the third module, amounting to 30 credits overall.
  • Half- Yearly Reports: FPM scholars are required to submit biannual progress reports to their Guide / Co-Guide in the prescribed format. This is a mandatory part of the program.
  • Publication: The scholar is required to publish a minimum of two research papers in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, as determined by Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School. Additional conference support will be provided once the final acceptance of the journal publication is obtained. Each paper must be co-authored with faculty members, the Guide, or Co-Guide from Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, and the scholar must ensure that the publications are submitted with Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School affiliation.
