Submission Guidelines for Authors

Before submitting their article to Prayukti – Journal of Management Applications (PJMA), authors are advised to read the below-mentioned submission guidelines.
Only those research works that adhere to the aims and scope of the PJMA will be accepted for review.
  • It’s mandated that all the submissions should strictly be the author’s original work on which authors have full rights and the research work is not being considered elsewhere for publication or is not already published in any journal.
  • A concise manuscript that is based on actual/ authentic exploration, enveloping variegated theoretical perspectives, and a plethora of methodological approaches will be encouraged.
There are certain aspects that the journal expects in the manuscript for submissions:
  • Thoroughness/precision:
    • The research work/ design should be specific about how a particular population has been exemplified in the study.
    • The research work should include the theoretical models and the basic formulae for doing statistical analysis and for building models or equations, explicitly stating how they have been utilized in addressing the research problem.
    • If there is any prior research work that has been done on similar lines, it should be mentioned.
    • The research findings should not be inclusive of any extreme cases or outliers. And should specifically be mentioned by the authors in their research work.
  • For qualitative research work:
    • The author needs to outline a specific procedural explanation to determine the validity and reliability of the data.
    • The author needs to clearly express the qualitative research methodology used e.g. triangulations, inter-observer reliability, etc., and see that it leads to the grounded theory which needs to be mentioned in the literature.
  • Article type:
    • The manuscript should have a relevant and attractive title, a short title, and a comprehensive abstract. These are very crucial to assist the prospective readers of the article to easily locate and comprehend your research work online. The article should have an abstract of 200- 250 words with a minimum of five keywords.
    • The article should be written in the MS word format only, in Times New Roman with the font size 12 and single-spaced and the word limit should be between 5000-8000. The language type can be either British or American English.
    • If the manuscripts include multiple studies, then the same should be mentioned and hence, can be accepted beyond the mandated length.
    • The title of the paper should be in the sentence case, except for certain words for emphasis which can be written in UPPERCASE.
  • Figures, graphics, and numbering:
    • It is advised to include the related tables and charts at the place where the relevant text is mentioned. The tables and charts should bear the numbers in sequential order. Figures in the charts and graphs should bear proper units and should be legible. If there is any pictorial illustration to be made, it should be in TIFF or JPEG format (for the pictures having no text or graphs), and for the graphs and the line art, the preferred format is EPF. The pictures, graphs, and tables should bear a suitable title and the source should be mentioned at the bottom in italics.
    • Kindly make sure that all the heading levels are clear. Different section subsections of the manuscript should be divided into numbers. Sections should be numbered as 1, 2,…. And the subsections section 1 should be numbered as 1.1, 1.2, further into 1.2.1, 1.2.2, and so on...
    • The pictures or charts included in the manuscript will be in color for the online visualization. However, in the print format, it will be in black & white.
    • Authors should ensure that they have procured the permissions from the relevant copyright holders in case they have used their work in the research work.
    • For .tiff or .jpeg format the expected resolution should be 300 dpi. However, for the line art, it should be 800 dpi minimum.
  • Order for the submissions:
    • Frontpage:
      • It should have the title of the article in the sentence case, name of the author(s) with current affiliation, clearly mentioned address of communication, active mobile number with country code, email address, and acknowledgments (if any).
      • Nowhere else in the manuscript should the name of the author and the affiliation appear except for within the text citations one’s previous works.
    • Type of the article: Every manuscript should be labeled as a research paper, review paper, abstract of the doctoral dissertation, book review, case study, short communication, and bibliography.
    • Second and subsequent pages:
      • It should begin with an abstract of 200-250 words, clearly indicating/summarizing the article’s content viz. i.e. purpose, methodology, major findings, and implications of the research. The abstract should have 5-10 keywords.
      • Introduction: Background, objectives, and the impetus of the research work should be vividly presented and explained in detail.
      • Literature Review: The article should be robustly built upon a review of the work of relevant pieces of literature and should be cited in APA
      • Methodology: This section should contain the methodology applied to carry out the research work. The nature and the treatment of the data should be mentioned. Theoretical models, explicit formulae for statistical and modeling are encouraged to be used in the work and also to be explained how they have been addressed in their analyses.
      • Results: This section should comprise the report on data collection and recruitment (response rates, etc.), describe participants (demographic, etc.), present secondary findings (secondary outcomes, subgroup analyses, etc.), present key findings concerning the central research question, etc.
      • Discussion: This section should state the main findings of the study, discuss the main results concerning previous research, discuss policy and practice implications of the results, analyze the strengths and limitations of the study, and offer perspectives for future work.
      • Conclusion: This section should give a brief recap of the issue examined, the method used and major finding(s), what are the implications of your work? How does it add to the literature? And describe how future researchers can expand or build on your work.
      • No footnotes require, but within the text, citations are to be made wherever necessary followed by references appearing at the end of the article written in alphabetical order.
      • References: References should be cross-referenced in the text by using the author's last name and publication year in the style of Ray, 2013 for the single author; Kay and Ray, 2013 for two authors, and Ray et al., 2013 for multiple authors. More than one reference from the same author(s) in the same year should be cross-referenced and appeared with letters 'a', 'b', 'c', ..., placed after the year of publication (Ray, 2013a, Ray 2013b, ...).
      • A list of references should appear alphabetically on a separate page as per the APA Format Citation Guide (https://www.mendeley.com/guides/apa-citation-guide).
    • Submission checklist: Author(s) are advised to use the below-mentioned checklist to carry out the final check of their submissions before sending it to the journal for review.
      • One author has been designated as the corresponding author and all the relevant contact details such as email address and full postal address has been specified.
      • All necessary files have been uploaded. Manuscript: including keywords, figures (with relevant captions), all tables (having titles and description).
      • Ensured that all the tables and titles mentioned in the text match with the files provided.
      • The manuscript is spell-checked and does not contain any grammatical errors.
      • All references mentioned in the text are properly cited.
      • Journal policy details have been reviewed.
      • PJMA’s copyright policy has been read and properly checked.
      • Submission of a manuscript to PJMA implies by default that it is not being considered for publication elsewhere or has not been submitted anywhere else.

Publication Policies

  • To ensure the best practice of the research and publication, PJMA makes sure that the submitted/accepted manuscripts undergo plagiarism detection software. It is advised to the authors to read the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines and abide by publication ethics practices.
  • We also are committed to the integrity of PJMA, hence if an article is found to have plagiarized content beyond the standardized accepted limit or the required permission is not obtained by the author for any copyrighted material from the third – party, or any insufficient acknowledgment is not expressed for the information included from the source, PJMA has all the right to take necessary/legal action against such submissions.

Post Acceptance

  • Manuscripts accepted for publication shall not be published anywhere else in any language. Post acceptance of the manuscripts, the corresponding author and the co-authors will be asked to submit the copyright transference agreement form to D. Y. Patil B School.
  • If the corresponding author needs to add/delete / or rearrange the authors, he/she can request the chief editor of PJMA by providing a reason for doing so along with the consent letter of the other authors of the manuscript. This can be availed and will be entertained by PJMA after acceptance and before the publication of the manuscripts online. Once the manuscript is published online, any request of such kind will not be entertained.
  • The chief editor reserves all rights to deciding on any addition/deletion or the rearrangement of the authors and this will be entirely based upon the reason provided by the corresponding author of the manuscript.
  • The communication regarding the status of the submitted manuscript will be done preferably via email to the corresponding author of the manuscript.
  • Once the laid protocol for the publication is abided in written and submitted by the author(s), the corresponding author will be emailed regarding the proofreading along with the detailed instructions and the concerned author(s) is solely responsible for the proofreading of the submitted/accepted manuscript. Further procedures related to the publication of the research article will be withheld until PJMA receives the response from the author(s) related to any correction(s) / modifications intended to be done.
  • It is requested to the authors make any required at the earliest for the quick and hassle-free completion of the publication. The author(s) need to provide the reason for any alteration made in the accepted manuscript at the time of proofreading and this has to be done in a single communication. Request for any kind of modification and alteration will be entertained entirely based on the reason provided for any such request made while proofreading.
  • Post successful publication of the article, the author(s) will receive the notification for the same and one printed version of the journal containing the published article of the author. In case they want to avail an extra copy of the same, they can request PJMA by paying an additional printing and the postage cost. Author(s) will be given the right to distribute their piece of work solely for non-commercial purposes.

Peer-review Policy

  • Every submitted manuscript is supervised primarily by the editor-in-chief and is then sent to two individual reviewers. This way each submission passes through a scrupulous double-blind peer-review process where both the author and the reviewer remain anonymous to one another. The decision on the submitted manuscript is aimed to be done within one month of the submission. The submitted manuscript will be rejected/ accepted or accepted with certain correction(s). The publication of the manuscript will lie entirely on the recommendations of the reviewers. The editor/editorial board of the journal is the main deciding factor for any acceptance of the manuscript. Once the manuscript is accepted it will be put in queue for publication and the author(s) will be informed about the status of their submitted manuscript via mail.
  • Authors of the accepted manuscript will be mailed an acceptance letter which contains all the detailed instructions for completing the pre-publication formalities such as transfer of copyright by filling the copyright form duly signed and scanned by the author(s).

Copyright Agreement Policy

  • Before publication, PJMA mandates the author(s) of the manuscript to sign the publishing agreement for the transfer of the copyright to Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School. This would imply that the author will have copyright in their piece of work but is now granting rights and licensed exclusively to PJMA for publishing and the full legal term of the copyright.
  • It is to be kept in mind that the submitted article should not have any unlawful or derogatory remarks that might be potential in hurting any country/ region or race’s sentiments. The submission should be purely original and is not being considered for publication anywhere else. In case of breach of the copyright agreement policy, the author(s) agree to compensate/indemnify Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School for the damage of its integrity.

Publication Ethics

  • Prayukti - Journal of Management Applications follows all the publication ethics and core practices designed by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School is committed to support and maintain the highest standards of publication ethics for Prayukti – Journal of Management Applications.
  • It is mandated that the authors submitting to PJMA shall abide by the copyright agreement policy and the Publication ethics set by COPE. The Journal aims for upholding stringent, scrupulous, and fair double-blind peer-review processes. Any deviation from the set standards is to be notified to the Editor, who is the sole person designated for swift resolutions for the advent of any such occurrence. We do follow the Core Practices designed by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE: https://publicationethics.org/) which are applicable to all involved in publishing scholarly literature: editors and their journals, publishers, and institutions.

Submission of Manuscripts

  • Please mail your contributions to Editor-in-Chief of Prayukti – Journal of Management Applications as a soft copy of the manuscript to pjma.bschool@dpu.edu.in with an explicit declaration of the effect that the work is original, has not been published elsewhere and is not being considered by any other publisher.
