Objectives:
To introduce the learner to the basic concepts of competency and competency mapping.
Brief:
In this session, the resource person- Abha Bansal introduced the concept of competency mapping to the participants.
She said - Competency mapping is the process of figuring out what competencies, or underlying characteristics that let you perform at or above expectations, are critical to success.
It also involves putting those competencies to work for you in other processes you may have in your business, such as accounting or recruitment.
The trainer explained all the three stages of competency mapping and then went on to explain the different methods of competency mapping such as assessment centre,
critical incidents technique, interview technique competency mapping, questionnaire & psychometric tests. The participants were assigned an activity to help them develop a better understanding of the concept.
The session was a hands-on approach wherein the participants were made to take note of and understand how to write competency statements along with levels of competencies. The entire session was smartly planned,
where small groups were formed and each group worked on single competency and levels of competencies to be
defined by the team. At the end of the activity, the participants had a fair idea of how competency mapping is the key to manage talent in any organization.
