Brief Report
IQAC of Dr DY PATIL B SCHOOL hosted a two-hour session on 24th March by eminent speaker Mr Jack Daily on his remarkable life experiences. A CEO, entrepreneur, and writer Jack Daly began his professional journey at the CPA firm Arthur Andersen and gradually rose to the CEO level of several corporations. The business maestro has built 6 companies and transformed them into National firms. The 74-Year YOUNG Man is also a professional sales coach and has written several best-selling books like 'Sales Growth' and 'The Sales Playbook for Hyper Sales Growth'. Additionally, apart from 30+ years of sales and executive experience, he was also a Captain in the U.S. Army, a 15-time Ironman competitor, and completed over 93 marathons in 50 states on all seven continents. As a man of many talents and real-world knowledge, Jack Daly has a lot to impart to the students of Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School. Daly was heartily welcomed into the campus by our faculty members and a very enthusiastic group of students keen on learning more from the guest.
Daly started the session with a simple but effective quote: LEADERS ARE READERS. He introduced himself as a voracious reader who enjoys reading by heart. He emboldens the fact that learning is a process and that to live happily and wealthy, one should go with the flow as he did. He has been in so many businesses for the last 25 years, and many more to go, and has traveled across the globe around 30 countries. He gets himself updated to keep himself coping with all changes. He shared his experience of visiting India after many years; the world in India has changed tremendously. So, dealing with changes is mandatory.
He asked to be a growth mindset person who finds opportunities in everything rather than a fixed mindset person who just claimed the circumstances for whatever happened. At the age of 13, he realized the opportunity and started making a list of questions and frequent answers to those questions.
1) You have to have those goals.
2) Don’t set too many goals.
3) Goals should be smart.
4) Find something to target for yourself.
5) Share it with everyone.
By age 25, he wanted to be financially sound and professionally active, CEO of the business, national in size. He decided to indulge in some crazy stuff like swimming at 65 and a marathon at 45. He then shared one famous saying that there is nothing you can’t do, as he is a living example of the same. Being a 74 years old man the energy and enthusiasm we all had witnessed is something spectacular.
He then talked about 7 important lessons to live a rich and happy life.
1.) Vision: one should be ready with their vision for future
2.) Playbook: what process will you follow to become that?
3.) Perfection comes with practice
4.) Measure, measure, measure.
5.) Importance of having a mentor who can give you clarity and guides you
For personal goal: 5 coaches
Business goal: 3 coaches
Whole life: 14 coaches
6) Taking care of yourself physically
7) Mindset/ attitude/ never give-up attitude
All he did was the same. Leverage your passion. Choose to be happy. JACK IT UP!
The session was enlivening and interactive, with essential life lessons. He concluded his session by saying enjoy what you do. The students learned a great deal about the art of sales growth, business insight, and personal upliftment. The hour-long session was thrilling and a great experience for DYPBS students & staff!
