Inclusion and Diversity People Management

IQAC of Dr. D.Y. Patil B-School organized a workshop for students – “Inclusion and diversity people management”.

Objectives:

  1. To create a more harmonious workplace by increasing student’s knowledge and awareness of cultural, religious, or racial differences
  2. To deliver information about how a person can change their behavior to be more inclusive.

Brief:
IQAC of Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School conducted a workshop on “Inclusion & diversity people management.” The session started with the trainer detailing on the necessity of establishing a diversity and inclusion culture in the organization as it helps developing a clear, detailed definition of how an effective organisation can work. In this training program the session included with concrete ways to engage in respectful and positive interactions in the workplace while reducing discrimination and prejudice based on factors such as gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, age, religion, physical and mental ability, and socioeconomic status. The session addressed a range of issues, including unconscious bias, microaggressions and cross-cultural communications. The workshop moved beyond simply encouraging employees to tolerate differences to teaching the students how to work well together while embracing diverse perspectives.

The trainer started the session 2 with outlining the importance of the diversity and inclusion at the workplace by giving real world examples of how certain companies such as starbucks, Sephora, the city of Seattle, conducted diversity training for their employees and what were the visible benefits of such trainings..

The workshop was well received by the audience, where they shared their experiences. Some of them were shared during the end of the session.
