Objectives
1. To Provide Practical Exposure to Food Processing and FMCG Operations
The primary goal was to help students understand the operational workflow, quality control processes, and supply chain mechanisms in a leading FMCG company.
2. To Bridge the Gap Between Academic Learning and Industry Practices
The visit aimed to complement classroom knowledge with real-world exposure to manufacturing, production, branding, and logistics functions.
3. To Understand Sustainability and Innovation in the Food Sector
Students were introduced to Mapro’s eco-friendly practices, innovation in product development, and customer engagement strategies that align with sustainability goals.
4. To Explore Marketing and Brand-Building Strategies
Mapro’s success story gave students valuable insights into brand positioning, seasonal marketing, product diversification, and regional branding in the Indian market.
5. To Encourage Curiosity and Career Orientation in the FMCG Sector
By interacting with industry professionals and observing on-ground operations, students were inspired to explore career opportunities in the food and beverage industry.
 
On 16th July 2025 PGDM students of Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School, Pune visited the Mapro Foods plant in Mahabaleshwar, one of the most iconic names in India’s processed food industry. Known for its strawberry-based products, fruit syrups, and chocolates, Mapro provided students with a behind-the-scenes look at how high-quality food products are conceptualized, produced, and delivered to consumers.
The visit began with a warm welcome and a presentation on the history and growth of Mapro, followed by a guided tour of the production facility. Students witnessed the stages of fruit processing, packaging, quality testing, and inventory management. The team at Mapro shared insights on procurement of raw materials from local farmers, seasonal production cycles, and hygiene standards maintained in the plant.
The visit also included a walk through the Mapro Garden, where students saw the company’s retail strategy in action—how products are displayed, sampled, and promoted in a tourist-friendly environment.

The Industrial Visit to Mapro Foods, Mahabaleshwar, was an enriching experience that offered students a holistic view of operations, marketing, and sustainability in the food processing sector. It was a perfect blend of academic relevance and industrial exposure, fostering practical learning and professional curiosity among future managers.
