As part of the Diksharambh 2025 orientation program, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School had the honour of hosting Ms. Shweta Pandey, Vice President at Northern Trust, for a powerful session on “Crisis Leadership – Traits and Opportunities” on 17th June 2025, from 03:00 p.m. to 04:00 p.m.
Drawing from her vast leadership experience in the financial services sector, Ms. Pandey provided students with deep insights into how effective leaders navigate high-pressure situations. She emphasized that true leadership reveals itself not in times of stability, but when challenges and uncertainties test one’s principles and decision-making skills.
Key Highlights:
1. Case Study Discussion – Sandpaper gate (Cricket Australia):
Ms. Pandey began with an analysis of the Sandpaper gate scandal, a crisis involving Cricket Australia that drew global criticism. She guided students through the events, decisions taken, leadership failures, and the eventual steps toward restoring credibility. This case served as a powerful example of leadership, ethics, public perception, and stakeholder communication.
2. Traits of Effective Crisis Leadership:
The session highlighted essential traits of good crisis leaders:
Calmness under pressure
