Objectives: To conduct a corporate session on “Know your business beyond HR-Automation in HR” , for the newly inducted students and prepare students for the upcoming Academic and Corporate Readiness.
The lecture offered valuable insights into the dynamic landscape of Human Resource Management (HRM), workplace attrition, succession planning, and the importance of industry readiness. The speaker, an experienced HR leader, shared a candid and practical perspective on the evolving role of HR in today’s corporate world.
1. Notice Periods & Attrition Management
The speaker emphasized that notice periods—typically 60 or 90 days—must be respected but also handled sensibly. Organizations must ensure that attrition, which is inevitable, does not disrupt business continuity.
Succession planning and having backup resources for critical roles were highlighted as key HR responsibilities.
2. Real-Time Challenges in HR
Emotional detachment and professionalism are essential during exit discussions.
Organizations must balance empathy with business goals while addressing employee turnover.
3. Importance of Staying Industry-Relevant
Professionals must continuously update themselves with tools and trends, especially with technological disruptions like automation and AI.
The speaker encouraged students to stay informed through reading, networking, and continuous learning.
4. Industry Hiring Practices
The speaker shared personal experiences related to job changes and the importance of justifiable transitions.
Background verifications are now stringent, with checks such as criminal history, database validation, and client-mandated certifications.
5. Specialization in HR – Pros & Preparedness
HR offers diverse areas such as recruitment, learning & development, employee engagement, compliance, etc.
While it offers immense satisfaction in enabling others' growth, one must be prepared for difficult conversations, change management, and emotionally challenging situations.
Closing Thoughts
The session was highly interactive and inspiring. The speaker's real-world experiences helped bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. His advice to remain focused, industry-aware, and proactive in self-development resonated deeply with the students.
