The event was a key part of the HR Specialization Orientation for the new MBA batch and focused on bridging academic concepts with real-world practices.
The panel included esteemed HR professionals from Mastercard, each bringing deep expertise from the APAC and Indian business landscapes:
Mr. Hemant Sharma shared global insights on how AI and automation are reshaping payroll management, compliance tracking, and HR analytics across geographies.
Mr. Vishal Nair provided an in-depth perspective on the transformation of HR departments—from traditional recruitment and employee relations to digitally enabled functions within Global Capability Centers (GCCs).
Mr. Shahas Patil emphasized the growing importance of leadership in HR, explaining how human-centric skills remain critical in the age of automation.
The panel discussion covered a wide range of critical HR themes:
Recruitment vs. Talent Acquisition: A shift toward proactive hiring and employer branding using data-driven strategies.
Evolving HR Departments: Integration of AI into various HR functions including training, performance reviews, compliance, and onboarding.
Compliance and Global HR: Adapting to complex legal frameworks across countries while maintaining uniformity in global operations.
Human Touch in Tech Era: Reinforcing empathy, culture, and employee engagement despite increased automation and paperless systems.
AI & HR Co-existence: Use of AI for 60–70% of tasks like screening, payroll processing, and analytics, while HR leaders review, supervise, and make strategic decisions.
Training for the Future: Equipping employees with AI literacy and encouraging lifelong learning within organizations.
Leadership in HR: Preparing HR professionals to lead digital change while maintaining ethical and inclusive practices.
Students actively participated in the Q&A session, seeking clarity on emerging job roles, industry expectations, required skill sets, and the relevance of HR in a tech-dominated world.
The session concluded with a strong message: “Technology may be the engine, but people remain the heart of every organization.” The event served as a powerful introduction for students entering the HR domain, equipping them with direction, inspiration, and a global outlook.
We sincerely thank all three panelists and the organizing committee for delivering an impactful, industry-aligned session. Events like this strengthen the institute’s mission of developing future-ready, people-first HR professionals.
