As part of the Diksharambh 2025 Induction Ceremony, Dr. D. Y. Patil B-School hosted an inspiring and immersive session titled "Learning through Movies – The Pursuit of Happiness" for the incoming PGDM and PGDM Global Batch 2025–27. This session took place in the seminar hall and offered students a unique opportunity to explore meaningful life lessons through the lens of cinema.
The session centered around the acclaimed movie The Pursuit of Happiness, starring Will Smith, which narrates the powerful story of a man’s unwavering determination in the face of adversity. Through guided viewing, discussion prompts, and interactive reflections, students analyzed the film’s key themes such as resilience, grit, hope, and the relentless pursuit of dreams.
Facilitators encouraged students to engage with the characters’ emotional journeys and to identify parallels in their own lives and aspirations. This allowed the session to become more than just a film screening—it became a platform for introspection and motivation.
Several students shared their personal takeaways during the reflection round, discussing how the protagonist’s attitude and mindset could inspire them to overcome academic, career, or life hurdles. The integration of storytelling with life skills made the session both memorable and impactful.
The session proved to be a highly effective tool for value-based learning. It reinforced the importance of staying resilient, working hard, and believing in one’s potential despite challenges. It also emphasized the power of perspective and positivity in the journey of personal and professional growth.
