Dr. D. Y. Patil Business School, Tathawade, Pune is always on frontline in organising several programs that benefit students, faculty, and the society for the overall development. In the same way, the institute has invited His Grace Gopathi Das – Monk & Leader from ISKCON-Ravet, Pune to deliver a discourse on “Leadership Lessons from Bhagavad Gita: The Indian Knowledge Systems” on 7th January 2025 to enhance leadership skills and abilities of students and faculty based on lessons from Bhagavad Gita. The speaker His Grace Gopathi Das has received an immense welcome from the students by calling Holy Names of Srimati Radha Rani “Radhe Radhe” in standing ovation. Afterwards, the programme coordinator Dr. P NVV Satyanarayana and Senior Professor Dr. Indrajit Goswami felicitated the speaker with bouquet and shawl as a token of respect. The session was moderated by Dr. Prajakta Yawalkar.

The speaker initiated the session with an anecdote that talks about four students who travelled to the USA and took accommodation on the 100th floor of a hotel. Three were talking about everything while going to the 100th floor by lift, but the other guy suddenly told them that he forgot the room key just before arriving at the 100th floor. This resembled everyone’s life in which every one of us is missing something very important to become happy which cannot be made available without adding to our lives. This emphasizes the missing link nothing but spirituality. Then the speaker started highlighting the significance of spirituality in day-to-day life to overcome fear, anger, conflicts, etc. For this, the speaker took up several verses from Bhagavad Gita that talks about how to take decision with controlled mind, to become humbled leader (BG 2.38), to be flexible and strong (BG 2.14), to become exemplary leader (BG 4.34), to show equanimity, to have mutual dependance (BG 4.44), to have self-discipline, and so on and so forth. The participant students and faculty were happy receiving the lessons from Bhagavad Gita to transform their lives through effective leadership and management. The session was concluded with Q&A in a very objective manner with Vote of Thanks by the session moderator Dr. Prajakta Yawalkar. The speaker, at the outset, interacted with the students to solve their problems by providing possible solutions based on scriptural injunctions believed to be authoritative guidelines for behavior, rituals, and moral conduct.
