Are you also suffering from PCOS or PCOD??

Are you unaware of this condition??

You are not alone.

Introduction

According to today’s scenario, PCOS is on the rise among Indian women.

There are many people or women in India who are still not aware of the disorder and its lifetime consequences because there is a lack of awareness of the condition, and it often remains undetected.

PCOS was first described and detected in 1935, but still, women are unaware of this condition, and they hesitate to talk or discuss this type of condition in their family as they think they would become the reason for jokes or would be ashamed.

It has been estimated that 20% of all Indian women suffer from this condition i.e., 1 out of 5 women suffers from PCOD in India according to the latest research. If we look at the statistical data of 2018, then it was 1 out of 10 women suffering from PCOD.

This data signifies that the statistical data of affected women is increasing monthly or yearly. So, first of all, you all should be aware of what PCOD or PCOS is.

PCOD stands for Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease whereas PCOS stands for Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome.

PCOD is basically a medical condition in which the women’s ovary produces partially mature eggs or immature eggs.

PCOS is a medical condition that is more severe than PCOD as in this condition women’s ovary produces a high number of male hormones which increases the risk of excessive cyst formation or ovarian cancer.

These follicular cyst causes anovulation of eggs and further prevent the regular release of eggs.

Etiology

PCOS is described as an oligogenic disorder which means it’s not inherited by a simple single gene; it is basically an interaction of genetic and environmental factors which leads to the formation of this particular phenotype.
