Brief Report

This session was conducted under the Institution and Innovation Council’s S&IC 5.0. The session started by the healthy interaction and felicitation of the guests of honor Prof. Gary Packham and Mr. Simon Evans. Dr. Sonali Saha enlightened about the session as an important session for the budding entrepreneurs who want to start up their own under the Ministry of Education and Institute of Innovation Cell as well as she also notified that our Keynote speakers will help us in our startups. Prof. Sankalp Dandwate relived the memories of DPU Convocation Ceremony of 2023. There the Guests who graced the ceremony were Actor & Author Anupam Kher, and Saurabh Raaj Jain and all PGDM students received their Diplomas marking the successful completion of their courses

Learning Outcomes

Mr.Simon Evans started the session with a question about how many of us have visited the United Kingdom followed by detailed information about his career, area of interest, area of study, current position, area of research, and his experiences. Further he addressed the students with a story and was motivated by smiling throughout the session. He started with healthy communication and gave a detailed presentation about their University and offered the students to join their community if they wish to join via., QR Code. They gave a few examples of what they offer to the students who join their community. Anglia Ruskin Enterprise Academy (AREA) helps the students-

  • ARU Entrepreneurs’ community
  • Think Big ARU pitching competition

They also revealed modules and ARU Certificates for Professional development that helps to build a business, powerful pitching, design and build for success

The speaker enlightened the students by the growing demand of start-up culture in today’s youth and how inculcating certain skills have become one of the prominent features in today’s skill generation. Students have ideas but do not have proper guidance related to start-up. They also talked about different mediums of Fundraising and explained all in depth.

There are 6 ways to raise funds.
  • Self-finance.
  • Angel investors.
  • Crowdfunding.
  • Venture capital.
  • Raise funds under a government scheme.
  • Loan from Microfinance institutions (MFIs) or Non-Banking financial companies.

Key Outcome-

The key outcomes of this session were-

  • Despite losing the first four positions to the USA, UK, Canada and Israel, India has come a long way due to various government schemes such as Startup India, Make In India, Digital India, the setting up of the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) and many more which foster a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation in the country.
  • The Global Startup Ecosystem as a whole shows different ways of innovation and growth pockets all around the world that are evolving across the nations.
